When Should You Paint During A Remodel?

Reliable General Contracting

Here are our general guidelines for when to paint during a remodel:

A common questions we get asked when making renovation plans with home and business owners is when the painting process will start and what will that look like.  With smaller remodeling projects and we're just updating a handful of things - painting is a simple line item to check off the list. But for larger, more involved remodeling projects, timing IS essential for the best results. Painting too early can risk damage to your freshly painted walls and trim. We don't want an area to get bumped or scratch while working on other trades. In general, the painting will almost always be one of the last steps in the renovation process.

If you want to paint yourself or you are completing a home renovation yourself, we recommend painting once all major structural and functional work is done, but before new flooring or carpet is installed.

While we recommend painting close to the end of your project, some renovation experts recommend paint as the very last item on the list, and that’s fine, too. Reliable General Contracting will always take great care to ensure your new space is protected, especially the new floors. In fact, we recommend asking how we  plan to protect your home and surfaces when they paint. A good company like Reliable will always have a plan and an answer for you.
